Good morning Hurricanes Family,

I hope the kids are enjoying being back playing basketball.

I just wanted to clarify for everyone about basketball connect as there seems to be a bit of confusion. For returning players even if you registered last season with basketball connect you still need to register every season into the new competition in that year so this year being season 1 2023 on basketball connect.

Please be advised the way Basketball Connect works is that every player’s BQ registration has to remain current for the entire season of the competition they are registering into. If the system identifies a player having BQ rego expiring before that season ends, they will be prompted to renew it at the time of registering. The purpose of the system working like this is so that no player becomes unregistered during a season and is required to renew mid-way (as what used to happen with Gameday).

Example 1 – John Smith is registering for Club A this junior season which finishes in June 2023. His BQ rego expires in April 2023. When he registers he will be prompted to renew his BQ rego (which will be extended 12 months to April 2024).

Example 2 – Jane Smith is registering for Club B this junior season which finishes in June 2023. Her BQ rego expires August 2023. She will not be required to renew her BQ rego when registering as she will be covered for the season’s entirety.

SWM fee is now only seasonal, so you will pay that at the start of every season when you register with basketball connect.

This is the reason why no one came up on the iPad as a lot of people have not re registered with basketball connect. Please make sure you have registered asap on basketball connect.

For returning players log into your basketball connect account, click on actions in the top right corner, then click on the child you would like to register in the competition fill out all the required information and proceed through to the payment option of either the BQ and SWM fee or just the SWM fee.

Reminder this needs to be done by game 4 sooner is always better as we won't be able to use iPad on scoring days until all names are in the system.
